'A Walk In The Garden'

Our Raffle Quilt for 2010 is a Botanically inspired quilt,

consisting of alternating blocks of 12" squares of pale yellow and blue

'Irish Chain' blocks and hand appliquéd squares of Garden Flowers.

Surrounding these squares are borders of pale yellow and blue strips.

The outside pale yellow border has a vine of hand appliquéd Morning Glories

on opposite corners. The other two corners have matching quilted

Morning Glory patterns stitched into it. The proceeds from this quilt

will be divided between two excellent local charities,

SWIM ACROSS THE SOUND and NO VET LEFT BEHIND.  Tickets are available

through our members and will be for sale at local quilt shows including

ours on March 27th & 28th, 2010

SWIM ACROSS THE SOUND;

Swim Across The Sound is a charitable, grass roots, organization run by the St. Vincent's Medical Center
Foundation. This organization provides Cancer education, screening, and prevention programs at low or no
cost to the elderly and under-served. In addition, the Swim Across The Sound helps individual Cancer patients on a case
-by-case basis with specific needs, such as funding of wigs and prostheses, medication assistance, free transportation
to treatments and appointments, Day Care Scholarship and support groups.

NO VET LEFT BEHIND;

One out of every 9 homeless person is a Veteran. Most returned with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or some type of physical or mental issues. Some have been unable to succeed in traditional treatment programs or have not sought treatment. No Vet Left Behind is a non-profit organization that strives to assist Vets transition through a recent return or into a better life style off the streets. They do this through temporary housing, basic life necessities, job training, medical and mental health resourcing. They try to return dignity and order to the lives of the selfless individuals of our Military.
